INTERNET SEMINAR ON COPYRIGHT

SIGNIS JAPAN held the 2nd Internet Seminar on Copyright on Aug. 6, 2011 in Tokyo.  It was entitled as “The Basics of Copyright -Images”.  The 1st Internet Seminar on Copyright was held two years ago for “The Basics of Copyright -Writings”.

NIEPOKALANOW AND ROME

NIEPOKALANOWOn June 4, 2011, Mr. Shigeki Chiba, Film Director (and President, SIGNIS JAPAN), was bestowed with “Gospel Media Award” for his long year contribution to evangelization through films at the 26th Niepokalanow International Film Festival held in the suburb of Warsaw, Poland.  His films, “Living with Mr. Teresa” and “Auschwitz – A Miracle of Love” were shown at the festival.

NIEPOKALANOW2Taking this opportunity, Mr. Chiba and his team also visited Rome to give two screenings.  On June 7, they paid a visit to Bishop Claudio Maria Celli, President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, and the Bishop encouraged the team to continue evangelization work through films.  They gave the screening of the above two films at Marconi Hall of the Vatican Radio in the afternoon.  The next morning they paid a visit to SIGNIS Services Rome to observe various activities of SIGNIS.  In the afternoon they gave the same screening at the Salesian University Rome.

THE JAPAN CATHOLIC FILM AWARD CEREMONY

CATHOLIC FILM AWARDThe 35th Japan Catholic Film Award Ceremony was held at Kawasaki City Alterio Theater on May 28, 2011.  The Award was granted to Directress Naoko Ohta, who shot a documentary film “Under the Moonlight – A Memory of a Night High School”.  The film depicts various difficulties, changes and growth of night high school students and their love giving teacher for four years and beyond.  Most of the students were not accepted well in society, could not find their own place but eventually the night school became their home where they belonged.   Each student began to find his or her own dream.  Fr. Masahide Haresaku commented that this film was the film of one’s place where he/she is welcome, and the Catholic church is providing the “place”, and Christ is the host.
